Pho Thai Hoa (Kingsway)[The one closer to Joyce Station]

So, after several terrible experiences at their location on Victoria Drive, I was a little hesitant to try another, but I heard this one was SLIGHTLY better, so meh, what kind of food blogger would I be if I didn’t give it a try, right? When we sat down, I found it kind of funny how it listed 3 other locations, but NOT the Victoria Drive one, heh maybe they want to distance themselves, anyways onto the food!

It was a little warm for Pho, so I ordered a Vermicelli bowl with pork brochette and spring roll (8.00). I’m not sure if my idea of what a brochette was incorrect or what, but I’m sure it’s supposed to be in chunks on a skewer, not like that lol. But anyways, it was pretty dry and on the chewy side, and a tad bland. The spring roll was nice and crispy, just the way I like it, but again, the filling, although colourful, tasted like a whole lot of nothing. I did like the strong pickled flavouring of the Daikon and cucumber though.

Being the absolutely “adventurous” foodie that I am, I had to try their Soda with Condensed Milk with Egg (4.25). There was a teency acidity from the soda, but other than that, it tasted like milky nothingness. I mean there was a MINISCULE hint of egg, but overall, pretty disappointing.

Good:

-Didn’t have to wait much (restaurant was empty)….maybe that’s a bad thing

Bad:

-Food’s pretty bleh (mediocre)

-Server kept claiming she was SO BUSY and couldn’t take orders, but we were like the only ones in the restaurant lol.

-What is up with that drink?

Closing Comments: Yea, I don’t know, I’d probably rather just go to Mezbaan across the street lol

Overall Rating: 2.7 PBJ’s out of a possible 5
