Pho Tan (Kerrisdale)

I know it’s a ritzy part of town, but yikes…everywhere’s so overpriced in Kerrisdale. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to see a Pho place right at the heart of it lol. Usually they’re a pretty good bang for your buck, and yes, I’ll admit it, I can be kind of stingy at times, but anyways, off we went. It’s surprisingly modern and clean inside, was already excited before sitting down!

Here we have the Minced Pork and Spring Roll with Vermicelli (7.95). For some reason, it came out REALLY late, as in it took almost 30 minutes (pretty sure they lost the order…) but whatever I guess. Although the pork was juicy and tasty, it was VERY greasy, and gave me a mild case of heartburn afterwards. The spring roll was a little on the weaker side, as it lacked the distinguishable crunch that was present at other places, though it was still tasty in the end.

For 7.50, you can get the Seafood with dry egg noodle bowl. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that greasy! The garlic soya sauce made it pretty flavourful, though it was a little heavy handed on the MSG (makes your mouth feel numb afterwards). Compared to say…Pho Thai Hoa, this was a pretty good execution.

Good:

-Pretty modern eatery

-Not too expensive

-Food’s what you expect

Bad:

-Pretty sure they weren’t paying attention and lost my order

-There is no parking at all in the area

Closing Comments: This is probably one of the better deals you can get for food in the area…it’s even a better deal than Rotten Ronnies (McDonald’s)

Overall Rating: 3.5 PBJ’s out of a possible 5
